Toowoomba Gardens is a privately owned and operated early learning centre in the heart of Toowoomba. The centre opened in early 2019, the sister centre of the highly regarded and award winning Highfields Gardens Early Learning Centre in Highfields.
The centre caters for children from nursery through to school age. We pride ourselves in providing exceptional care and education for your child(ren).
Our owners are intimately involved in the centre which not only ensures a high quality service, it also frees the management team from excessive bureaucracy so they can focus on our team and families. For example, if something needs fixed it generally gets fixed the same day or within a very short time period. Our families come first and everything we do is focused on making their experience as rewarding and positive as possible.
As a strong advocate for play based multi intelligence learning, I pride myself on enhancing children’s learning through the use of a variety of techniques including peer scaffolding and multi-intelligent learning within a co-operative and constructivist environment.
Our Kindergarten Program is designed to foster the holistic development of children. We recognise that each child is unique and individual, and learns at their own pace. Our Kindergarten Program fosters a love for life-long learning and is strongly based on a play-based, co-operative learning approach. The Program operates under the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG) and reflects a strong focus on school readiness for the children, as they learn a variety of foundational skills including literacy, numeracy, social/emotional and physical skill development.
Jolly Phonics is a fun and child centred approach to early literacy learning through synthetic phonics.
The children engage in songs, colouring sheets and interactive smartboard apps to trace letters, listen to letter sounds and blend sounds together to make words.
The children learn actions for each of the letter sounds through a multi-sensory approach. Building this early literacy skills is vital for school readiness and links to Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines outcome 5, exploring literacy in personally meaningful ways.
ELLA (Early Learning Languages Australia) is an exciting digital language learning program for Kindergarten aged children and exposes children to other cultures and diversity in a fun and engaging way.
The language chosen for Toowoomba Gardens Early Learning Centre is Japanese and the children will engage with 7 interactive apps over the course of the Kindergarten year.
The STEM program includes growing our own vegetable patch, investigating life-cycles by growing bean seeds, using the interactive smartboard and tablet to access age-appropriate literacy/numeracy/science-based learning apps and completing the daily weather chart which teaches children about sequence, seasons and weather changes.
Our Kindergarten Program focuses on the holistic development of the child and to support children’s physical and mental wellbeing. The children will engage in regular Cosmic Yoga classes. Cosmic Yoga is an engaging form of on-line storytelling which incorporates a number of Yoga poses to help relax and calm busy children.
With the support of our Chef, the children also engage in a number of hands-on cooking experiences, where we discuss the nutritional value of the foods and what foods are healthy for our bodies.
As part of our letter of the week learning, the children also learn how to sign the letter in Auslan. They will also learn how to represent basic greetings and family members in Auslan over the course of the Kindergarten year.
This provides the children with another form of communication and links to the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines Outcome 5, where children become effective communicators.
